FRENTE REVOLUCIONÁRIA AFRICANA PARA A INDEPENDÊNCIA
NACIONAL NAS COLÓNIAS PORTUGUESAS
B.P. 800, Conakry, GUINEA.

Communique

The Second All-African Peoples’ Conference at Tunis decided to commemorate the 3rd August as the PORTUGUESE COLONIES INDEPENDENCE DAY. This date was chosen in memory of 50 African workers from Bissau, shot dead by Portuguese troops on 3rd August, 1959.

We are sure that you are aware of the atrocities and brutalities to which the peoples of Portuguese colonies are subjected, and hope that you give a particular attention to our freedom movement.

May we request you to express your solidarity with nationalist movements in Portuguese colonies on 3rd August, 1960, by whatever means you may think advisable (meetings, resolutions, press release, talks on radio, etc.)

To enclose a copy of “Facts About Portugal’s African colonies”, and other literature. We should be grateful if you would kindly keep us informed about the way which you intend to commemorate the 3rd August.

Fraternal greetings.

Conakry, July 6, 1960.
