Caro(a) Camarada:
Cada dia que passa é mais um dia, em que os nossos irmãos no interior de Angola e nós cá fora em exílio, vivemos sob dominação colonial estrangeira. Deixe-me perguntar-te: o que estás fazendo para pôr termo a esta exploração estrangeira? Ou, conformaste-te com a situação porque, hoje longe de Angola, estás imune da má nutrição, salário insuficiente, falta de escola, doenças e falta de assistência médica, alta mortalidade infantil e todas as outras desumanas manifestações da presença colonial em Angola?
Pergunto mais uma vez: Qual tem sido a tua contribuição na luta do teu povo contra estes males que te foram impostos pelos portugueses. Ou será que concedes que Angola deve continuar província de Portugal para mais tempo? Se não, qual tem sido a tua contribuição revolucionária?
Como estudante Angolano, espero estares consciente das tuas responsabilidades ante o povo Angolano e ante a nossa organização estudantil – defensora dos teus interesses.
Na última reunião que os membros da direcção tiveram com o comité executivo da USNSA, a pedido desta última, em Philadelphia, foi nossa linha de conduta que embora estejamos prontos a cooperar com o USNSA foram postos sob aviso que relações de carácter paternalista não seriam toleradas pelos ESTUDANTES ANGOLANOS. Por estarmos cometidos à causa dos interesses do povo Angolano não há outra posição senão a de suporte incondicional à unidade das forças estudantis e políticas Angolanas que pode concordar com o nosso compromisso nacional.
No que respeita a questão do Congresso continuamos pressionando aos camaradas na Europa para que o mesmo se possa realizar na Páscoa como previsto. [?] no Congresso que a estrutura para a unidade estudantil Angolana será lançada. Continua-se notando até este ponto que a atitude dos estudantes angolanos espalhados pelo mundo é favorável a tal unidade. Os camaradas da UGEAN continuam manifestando um ardente desejo de ver as forças estudantis unidas, para unidos prosseguirmos ao nosso alvo – a libertação de Angola.

REPORT OF THE MEETING BETWEEN THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES OF THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (USNSA) AND ESTUDANTES ANGOLANOS (SECTION OF THE UNEA)
Philadelphia 30/1/65
In one of the saloons of the Sheraton Motor Inn at 10:00 o’clock the meeting was called to order.
Immediately on behalf of the USNSA, a statement was made by Norman Uphoff, pointing out the aims of his organization vis-à-vis the struggle of the Angolan people for Liberation and also some of the actions which the USNSA has undertaken and plans to undertake to assist the Angolan students in their fight for Independence.
As expresses by different members of the Angolan Students executive committee, cooperation between the two organizations should be based upon mutual respect and frankness. Due to the nature and range of activities of one of the organizations (the USNSA) as compared to the other (THE Estudantes Angolanos), the danger of paternalistic type of relations was always present. However, it was stressed, such state of affairs could never conduce to mutual cooperation, neither was it, by no means, the goal of the Angolan students. Under this atmosphere the meeting proceeded.
A resumé of the goals and activities of the ESTUDANTES ANGOLANOS was presented. Following the presentations the body proceeded analyzing means to implement the goals as well as means to give the present activities of the ESTUDANTES ANGOLANOS a more efficient character. At this point the lunch break was taken.
During the second half of the meeting the discussion centered around the idea of seeking better means for cooperation. The matter of financial assistance was approached and some of the areas in which financial assistance was more urgently needed were spelled out:
1.    Increase of scholarship grants for college students (Angolan students)
2.    Possibilities for enlarging the program to include the pursue of technical studies at Technical Institutes
3.    Possibilities for helping secondary school level students in Africa
4.    Financing Travel expenditures for the UNEA Congress
5.    Technical assistance: newspapers and others
Next, presented by Paul Touba the group heard a resumé of the activities of the UNEA in the International arena. Also by both, Julius Slickman and Robert Witherspoon, Jr. a resumé of the activities of the USNSA. The following were proposed as means to implement the co-operation:
1.    Group speaking and conference attendance by Angolan students in different University campuses and other institutions.
2.    Participation in Musical and other social programs by the Angolan Students Folckloric Group, under the auspicies of the USNSA.
3.    Writing of articles and other material on Angola designed to inform the American public about the realities of the Angolan Revolution.
Finally the meeting came to an end with the representatives of both parties agreeing to work toward means which could lead to mutual cooperation and healthier relations between the USNSA and the ESTUDANTES ANGOLANOS.
