Message to the big four Meeting in Paris

MESSAGES TO THE BIG FOUR MEETING 
in Paris

The representatives of African and Asian peoples meeting from April 11 to 15 1960 in Conakry,

Having studies the recent developments of the Algerian war which has been going on for about six years,

Conscious of the importance of the Meeting of the Heads of State, with a view to consolidating international peace and friendship between the peoples,

Are concerned about the evolutionary provoke by certain French military leaders concerning a so-called right of suite (droit de suite), the aim of which is to extend the colonial war in Algeria to the territories of Tunisia and Morocco,

Convinced that this constitutes a real danger to security and international peace, which are both conditioned by restoration of the respect for national sovereignty and the disappearing of colonial regime,

Appeal to the honourable Heads of State Meeting in Paris to include in the agenda of their discussion the Franco-Algerian conflict.

The representatives of the African and Asian peoples affirm that there would be grave consequence should the Summit Meeting concern itself only on the relaxation of tension in Europe, leaving the French a free-hand to continue its policy of aggression against the sovereignty of the Algerian people,

Ask the honourable Heads of State to urge the French Government to end the war in Algeria and to enter into negotiation with the Provisional Government of the Republic of Algeria on the basis of the effective recognition of the right of the Algerian people to self-determination.

MESSAGE AUX QUATRE GRANDS REUNIS A PARIS

Les représentants des peuples d’Afrique et d’Asie réunis à Conakry du 11 au 15 Avril 1960,

Après avoir étudié les derniers développements de la guerre à d’Algérie qui dure depuis bientôt six ans,

Conscients de l’importance de la réunion à Paris des Chefs d’États en vue de consolider la paix internationale et l’amitié entre les peuples,

S’inquiètent de l’éventualité soulevée par certains chefs militaires français relatif à un prétendu droit de suite dont le but est d’étendre la guerre coloniale d’Algérie aux Territoires tunisien Marocain.

Convaincus que ceci constitue un danger réel pour la sécurité et la paix internationale conditionnées toutes deux par la restauration et le respect de la souveraineté nationale et la disparition du régime colonial.

Lancent un appel aux honorables chefs d’États réunis à Paris en vue d’inscrire le conflit franco-algérien à l’ordre du Jour leurs discussions

Les représentants des peuples d’Afrique et d’Asie affirment qu’il serait grave pour la conférence au sommet de s’inquiéter uniquement de la détente en Europe laissant ainsi le gouvernement français prolonger se politique d’agression contre la souveraineté du peuple Algérien

Démènent aux honorables chefs d’États d’inviter le Gouvernement français à la guerre d’Algérie et à entamer des négociations avec le Gouvernement Provisoire de la République Algérienne la base de la reconnaissance effective du droit du peuple algérien à l’autodétermination.
