WAR COMMUNIQUE.
During the last month, a great number of people have joined the militant organisation M.P.L.A. in the Southern Province of Angola. And also a lot of Angolan youth have been integrated in our military organisation. The Portuguese colonialist are terrorizing the mass of people, in order to stop them from following the nationalist activities. The repressive action made by the Portuguese soldiers became intensive after the destruction of some bridges conncting the town of Luso with the border regions, on begining of this month of May.
On the 18th May, 1966, a group of Portuguese colonialist soldiers on patrol were surprisingly ambushed by M.P.L.A. guerrilla fighters, and 17 Portuguese soldiers were killed. In this action, one of our freedom fighters lost life.
After this date, the colonial and repressive army is bombing intensively the villagers. This fact is obliging our people to leave the motherland fleeing into Republic of Zambia. Until now, about 500 men, women and children arrived already in this country.
This is the first time that military activisties are registered in the Southern Province of Angola, and these activities will improve progresively in the next time.
In this way, M.P.L.A. is intensifying its military activities Portuguese colonialism for Independence of our Country.
