WAR COMMUNIQUE
On the 21st July, 1966, at 5.00p.m. a detachment of MPLA guerrillas, operating in the district of Moxico, Angola, achieved an important success in their campaing to harass and demoralize the Portuguese colonialist troops in our country.
Due to their skillful tactical manouvers, the nationalists succeeded in drawing a column enemy soldiers to a previously selected site. Taken by surprise with the intensive fire of our arms, 51 Portuguese soldiers where killed and the remainder fled.
Some arms and medicines where captured. There where no losses amongst our guerillas.
This action took place near the Zambezi River six days later the Salazarist forces made their cowardly attack against the village of Chipatala within Zambian territory.
The revolutionary struggle of M.P.L.A. proceeds and the field of operations of our guerrillas is being constantly enlarged.
